Does An Acne Cure Really Exist?

Acne, which strikes many people from all walks of life, is a skin disorder that results from the action of hormones on the sebaceous glands of the skin. It is most common among teens and young adults, although infants and mature adults can also be affected. Acne sufferers have been around for many hundreds of years. However, after all this suffering the question still needs an answer...can you actually cure acne?

Because there are so many people suffering with this disorder it really is no wonder the market is saturated with a ton of so called acne cures. Even though some acne medicines like accutane do provide relief for certain acne sufferers, most dermatologists and doctors would probably deny the fact that acne cures actually exist.

Many acne sufferers will resort to over-the-counter products like non-prescription acne cleansers, astringents, pimple creams, and moisturizers. These usually help unplug whiteheads and blackheads and encourage the skin to peel off.

Topical antibiotics prescribed by dermatologists help fight acne by means of killing the bacteria that infect the pores. However some bacteria may become resistant to these forms of acne cures, rendering them useless over a longer period of use. When using these products side effects such as redness, irritation and drying may be encountered.

Oral anitbiotics are another option which relieve acne by killing the bacteria. Nausea and dizziness are some of the side effects to consider when taking oral antibiotics.

One other alternative to consider that may be the most controversial are vitamin A derivatives. They work by preventing skin cells from clumping together and promoting the shedding of the skin. With this option there are a number of side effects, such as dryness, redness, and irritation. Much care and caution must be used when considering these derivatives because there have been some cases reported that attribute some birth defects and psychological disorders to their use.

Just remember, prevention is still the strongest key. As your mother might have told you, "an ounce of prevention is like a pound of cure"!And as always, consult with your doctor before beginning or trying any medical treatment.

Self Improvement Ideas

Presented here are some self-improvement ideas that can help each one of us succeed. Self improvement requires an initial self assessment, and identification of those characteristics or shortcomings that you want to improve.

You need to learn to be modest, insightful and self critical. Mostly we know those aspects of our character that we would like to change, but, modesty aside, it sometimes helps to get some feedback from someone else. So first of all, see what sort of list you come up with by thinking about what you believe you need to improve on.

At work, of course, it is sensible to consider what it is you do well, but also where you might fall short a little. What is it you need to work on to give you the best chance for promotion? Don’t make the mistake of thinking that the things you are good at will be sufficient. It is always worth improving your skills, and you never know how important that might be for your future.

It also shows that you are not too big headed, and that you are prepared to work at things even though they may present difficulties for you.

For example, are you impatient, snappy, and too easily able to criticize others? Do you think you are always right, or more able than others?

Or are you too timid or frightened to put yourself forward, always thinking that other people would do something better?

Each of the above categories reflects an area that you might want to change in your self improvement plan. Starting from the last first, self presentation is a great confidence booster, and good confidence levels will help you work positively towards your development.

Attitude is incredibly important. A friendly, helpful and self confident attitude will always impress. However, learning how to behave calmly when under pressure is not always easy. This is, of course, just one example. Sometimes you will need to project confidence you might not feel. It may be that you are just shy and feel ill at ease with some people. Even pretty confident people can sometimes just feel as if they are on the back foot with someone who seems to exude self confidence and self belief.

Attitude change is achievable with effort, time and belief that you can change your behavior. Practice your affirmations, and if possible, find someone to help and mentor you. Listen to their self improvement advice. It may feel strange at first, but it will help.

The key here is to be quite honest about why some things are difficult for you, or why you just don’t want to do them. Acknowledging that you might be frightened of not doing something well is often the only thing between your fear, and your doing away with that fear.

Affordable Dental is Available to the Uninsured

I left corporate employment several years ago. I wanted to venture off to learn what I could achieve if I had my own business.  At the time I left my formal employment, I went with COBRA for continuing health insurance but I let go of my dental insurance.  I really didn't want to do that, but it felt like the right thing to do at the time.

Since that time, I no longer have COBRA benefits available but I did sign up for a health insurance policy. I am absolutely amazed at how the costs risen sharply and consistently over these years!  I admit I didn't really look around, but in all this time I had not become aware of any affordable dental plans, so have continued without coverage.

In the last few weeks, I learned of a website, DentalPlans.com.  These guys offer "discount dental plans."  Discount?  I wondered what that meant.  Cynicism aside, I discovered it means you can pay a membership fee of $80 or a little more, and obtain a pretty respectable percentage off the cost of regular dental treatment.  The percentage can be up to 60%. Wow.

Now this isn't the only website where you can learn about affordable dental plans, it's just the first one I became aware of.  I think I'm sold too.  My dental needs over my lifetime have been very minimal. Looks like a pretty good idea to get regular dental care to make sure that trend continues.  I'm actually quite impressed that so many dentists are inclined to go along with this type of plan, too.  Demonstrates that many really do want to make sure people get the services they need.  I appreciate that.
