How You Can Write A Great Acting Resume

The headshot expresses the look and feel of the actor at a glance, but the actors resume sells the versatility, skillfullness, and success of an actor before he or she ever shows up to the audition. In this article we will go back over the reasons for creating an acting resume and also what to think about when you are putting one together.

An acting resume should take up precisely one side of one page, and you will typically staple it to the back of your head shot. This small amount of space is all you have to represent yourself as a multifaceted potential working actor. In order to do that, you will have to do a little thinking about what the auditioners seem to be looking for. Think about the specific show they going to be doing and try to compare it to their previous work. What sorts of actors do they like to use, and what kinds of people do they usually use for the type of part you're trying out for? Once you've considered what they're looking for, the only thing to do is to try and give it to them. You're an actor, so this should be the easy part.

The main thing to have in mind is that your acting resume is not an extension of you as an actor, it is an extension of the part you want to play. So, you should twist and pull at the facts of your professional life until they fit, as closely as possible, the specific audition. I would never tell you to lie; simply try to select and highlight the parts of your acting career that are the best fit for this show. This will hardly take you any time at all to do before each show. The fifteen minutes that you spend per audition could very well spell the difference between getting a part or not getting it.

The Challanges of Retirement

I have recently retired after holding down full-time jobs for more than 50 years and although this may sound like a good thing that I should be happy about now that I have the time to enjoy my Golden Years, I actually find that I'm bored stiff and have way too much time on my hands with very little to do.

I have always liked boating and my first thought was that I would take the substantial funds we received from selling our house and then go looking at used motor yachts for sale. This idea grew to be a fun adventure and kept me occupied for a few months before I finally wised up and realized that I was way too old and inexperienced to handle one of those big boats by myself and just riding around in the dang thing while a Captain and crew did all of the driving seemed like it would quickly get as boring as sitting here all day in my house.

So, next I thought I should look in to sailing with a smaller boat as that would be something I could do by myself and the challenge of sailing sounded like it would keep me from getting bored.

I started looking for Houston sailing information and quickly discovered that I had to take a lot of accredited sailing instruction courses before I would be allowed out on the water unsupervised. Well, this was sounding very much like going back to school and that certainly was not something that I was interested in doing so that particular great idea also got discarded.

Now this whole situation has seemed to have gone full circle as I'm giving serious thought to going back to work at least on a part time basis. I wouldn't want to actually be employed by a company where I would have a boss and regular hours but might do OK as a self employed consultant working SEO services Houston.

I'm still not sure but at least this idea gives me something to think about and should keep me busy investigating for at least a few months.
