Every now and then I get the urge to take off for a hot destination near the beach, where I can read and swim and just take it easy.  I figure I'm like most everyone else in needing to keep a careful watch over the budget. Admittedly flying to exotic resorts may not be in our  budgets this year.  However, if we can carve out some vacation money, I can suggest a few vacations where you will find warm weather, water and have at least some chance of trimming the budget.

The first place that comes to mind is good old Southern California.  There are pushing 100 miles of great accessible beaches between San Diego to Malibu—dozens of places where you can lay out your towel.  Check out the SoCal Vacation Guru for details on many beach communities and beach-oriented activities.  The site includes tips and wisdom in planning your Southern California vacation.

Mexico is another candidate if you're looking for even warmer weather.  A trip to Cancun in the spring or summer can be a smart choice, and you are likely to find Cancun travel deals and discounts if you do some research on the web.  The city includes a long peninsula with dozens of beachfront hotels.  The weather can actually be too hot in the middle of summer.

Actually you can find travel deals for several Caribbean resort destinations with a little research.  Cancun is just one of many great resort areas.  Other examples include Cozumel and Jamaica.  Spend some time up front doing research so you learn about the culture and background of the place, and also to make sure you know enough to make smart and safe decisions during your trip.  Fortunately you can accomplish a lot of study in a short period of time with a good internet connection.
